The Colorado Department of Human Services is celebrating Feb. 1 as National Energy Assistance Day. All potentially eligible Coloradans are encouraged to apply for Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP).

The Colorado Department of Human Services reports that calls to the Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline, 844-CO-4-Kids (844-264-5437), remained stable from 2021 to 2022 after a significant drop in 2020.

A new program created by the Colorado Office of Civil and Forensic and Mental Health has restored 25% of clients to competency without the need for inpatient hospitalization since it began in July 2022.

All Coloradans who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will see a reduction in their monthly benefit amount after February. This is due to the end of emergency allotments that began at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
