The Colorado Department of Human Services is a HIPAA-covered entity. The mission of CDHS's HIPAA office is to ensure compliance with federally mandated security and privacy regulations that relate to health information. The HIPAA privacy and security officer provides guidance to programs for state and federally mandated security and privacy regulations, including those that relate to health information under the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
