The Colorado SNAP Outreach program, which is administered by the Colorado Department of Human Services, aims to increase access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for eligible individuals and families across Colorado. SNAP Outreach seeks to inform, assist and empower individuals in navigating the SNAP application process through strategic partnerships with local, community-based organizations, targeted outreach efforts, and educational campaigns. SNAP is the most extensive nutritional assistance program in the nation, and CDHS is committed to using innovative and authentic outreach approaches for fighting food insecurity in Colorado.

Care and Share

Care and Share’s goal is to increase knowledge and provide application assistance to individuals and families who qualify for SNAP in 29 counties in Southern Colorado. Care and Share began offering SNAP outreach and application assistance because they realized that participation in both the Care and Share Food Bank and SNAP improved food security. Today, the Care and Share Food Bank SNAP Outreach team consists of one SNAP manager and three SNAP coordinators, with offices in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Alamosa. Care and Share offers assistance in English and Spanish, in-person or over the phone.
