Aug. 13, 2025: The Colorado Juvenile Parole Board is currently seeking applications to fill three open public at-large seats on its board. This is a unique opportunity for community members to play a vital role in the lives of young people and contribute to public safety. The deadline to apply is Sept. 15.
What is the Juvenile Parole Board?
The Juvenile Parole Board is a nine-member board whose members are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the state Senate. The board makes parole decisions for all youth adjudicated to the Division of Youth Services in Colorado. Its mission is to promote public safety while considering the best interests of the youth and victims when reintegrating a young person into the community.
What's involved in being a board member?
Board members can expect to dedicate 25 to 30 hours per month to board business. Primary responsibilities include:
- Reviewing youth files before parole hearings.
- Participating in one to two parole hearings each month.
- Attending the required monthly board meeting, held virtually or in Denver.
As a public at-large member, you will be paid $75 for a half-day or $150 for a full day. You will also be reimbursed for actual expenses like mileage and hotel costs when conducting board business.
Who is a good fit for these positions?
The Juvenile Parole Board is looking for dedicated individuals from the public. To be eligible, you may not be an employee of the state government.
