April 3, 2023 — The Veterans Community Living Centers (VCLC) Board of Commissioners is currently seeking applicants to fill two vacancies. Positions on the seven-member board are appointed by the governor for a four-year term of office.

The board is recruiting for two vacant veteran seats:

  • A veteran
  • A veteran who is a member of the State Board of Veterans Affairs

The functions of the Board of Commissioners are to:

  • Advise the office and VCLCs located in Monte Vista (Homelake), Florence (McCandless), Rifle, Aurora (Fitzsimons), and Walsenburg (Spanish Peaks);
  • Provide continuity, predictability and stability in the operation of the VCLCs; and
  • Provide guidance to future administrators at the VCLCs based on the collective institutional memory of the board.

Board members meet every other month for 2-3 hours per meeting. Meetings are currently held virtually; however, travel to the VCLCs may be required in the future once COVID-related healthcare facility restrictions are lifted.

CDHS values broad, diverse representation on its boards to ensure adequate representation of stakeholders and the public. Applications must be submitted by April 24.
