Feb. 16, 2023 — The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) is seeking two individuals to fill upcoming vacancies on the State Board of Human Services by its March 2023 meeting. The vacancies are for:

  • One member of the public at large; and
  • One member who is a person with lived experience with behavioral health disorders, a family member of a person with behavioral health disorders, a member of an advocacy group for persons experiencing behavioral health disorders, or a physician or a member of one of the licensed mental health professions.

The State Board of Human Services is a nine-member, volunteer, governor-appointed and Senate-confirmed body responsible for reviewing and making decisions on the rules that govern human services programs. In compliance with applicable state and federal laws, members of the board help ensure program rules align with CDHS's mission to empower Coloradans to thrive. Responsibilities include participation in monthly hearings, reviewing and voting on CDHS and Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) rules and, most importantly, providing opportunities to make influential decisions that shape the programs and services administered by CDHS and the BHA. Board members will work with CDHS and BHA staff and interact with members of the public to improve the numerous programs that serve Coloradans through bold and innovative health and human services.

CDHS strongly encourages diversity in its applicants and urges volunteers from all parts of the state with varied backgrounds and life experiences to apply. If you are interested, please apply by Dec. 15.

If you have any questions about the application process, or need assistance completing the application, please contact State Board Administrator Kyle Zinth at 720.602.6807 or kyle.zinth@state.co.us.
