The Youth Seclusion Working Group was created through HB 16-1328. The purpose of this working group, as outlined in C.R.S 26-20-110, is to advise the Division of Youth Services (DYS) on policies, procedures, and best practices related to seclusion and alternatives to such seclusion.
The working group shall monitor the DYS's use of confinement for administrative purposes. If necessary, the working group may make recommendations to the DYSand Colorado legislative committees of reference about the use of confinement for administrative purposes.
The working group met for the first time on July 29, 2016, and the work of the group shall conclude its work no later than September 1, 2024.
