Update (Dec. 17, 2021) — The Teller Task Force has concluded its work. The Colorado Department of Human Services is moving into the initial planning phases of formal government-to-government tribal consultations with Tribal Nations. If you have any questions, please contact Laura Strother, CDHS director of County Relations, at laura.strother@state.co.us
The Teller Institute Task Force was created in April 2021 in partnership with the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs, History Colorado, Tribal Nations, and community partners.
The purpose of this task force is to provide recommendations to the executive director of CDHS, regarding the key issues pertaining to the grounds of the previous Grand Junction Indian School, also known as Teller Institute. This entirety of this work should ensure that the collective voice of Tribal Nations and the American Indian community are informing the fieldwork and next steps based on the results of fieldwork.
