The Substance Use Disorder and Substance Exposed Newborn Workgroup is a time-limited subgroup under the Child Welfare Sub Policy Advisory Committee (DCW Sub-PAC). The workgroup will examine the impact of parental and youth substance use on involvement and outcomes in Colorado child welfare, as well as its impact on child welfare staff and practice. The workgroup will submit a report including data summary and recommendations for enhancing child welfare practice, supporting county child welfare partners, improving cross-agency collaboration, and improving client outcomes in child welfare as it relates to substance use.

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month from 10-11:30 a.m. Meetings are recorded and are available for review.

Individual members of the workgroup change as the focus of the work progresses/changes and additional expertise and feedback is needed. Additional representation may include the Department of Health Care Policy and Finance (HCPF), CDHS Family Voice Council, Colorado Action Lab and others. This meeting is open to the public, any qualified member may show up and contribute to the work of the SUDSEN.
