About Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center

Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center is located in Centennial and is a 36-bed secure youth center serving detained youth. Marvin W. Foote serves youth from the 18th Judicial District encompassing Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties.

Marvin W. Foote's mission is to protect, restore and improve public safety. This is accomplished through a continuum of services and programs that effectively supervise juvenile offenders, promote offender accountability to victims and communities and build skills and competencies of youth to become responsible citizens.

Marvin W. Foote uses an adaptive pro-social behavioral management philosophy, which applies evidence based principles from social learning and cognitive behavioral theory. Services include individualized education, restorative community justice and life skills education.

Education

Cherry Creek School District 5 provides licensed teaching staff for detained youth in the youth center. While at Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center, detained youth can earn credits necessary to receive a high-school diploma or obtain a GED certificate.

Family information

The family is an integral part of the team working with youth involved in the Division of Youth Services. DYS strives to honor family experience and culture, empower all family members, utilize family strengths and instill hope for a safe and successful future.

Visitation

Visitation is an avenue to build and maintain healthy family and community relationships. Families of youth in the care of CDHS are encouraged to visit the youth center. Due to limited space availability all visits require a scheduled appointment. You can request visitation by contacting the Marvin W. Foote YSC control center at 303.768.7520.

Office of Colorado’s Child Protection Ombudsman

The Office of Colorado’s Child Protection Ombudsman helps youth and families address concerns about youth experiences and treatment while living in the Division of Youth Services (DYS) youth centers. The CPO is an independent state agency that investigates complaints and grievances about DYS and provides free and confidential assistance to anyone who calls.
