State Unit on Aging

The State Unit on Aging oversees programs funded by the federal Older Americans Act and State Funding for Senior Services. The unit provides assistance and funding to 16 local Area Agencies on Aging to provide community-based services to seniors age 60 years and older and caregivers.

Alzheimer's, Dementia and Brain Health: What Everyone Should Know webinar

The State Unit on Aging hosted an "Alzheimer's, Dementia and Brain Health: What Everyone Should Know" webinar instructed by Kelly Osthoff of the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and offered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on Nov. 3, 2025. 

The webinar provides:

  • A clear understanding of the difference between Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
  • Basic knowledge of advancements in diagnosis, treatment and care.
  • Tips on how to better understand and connect with someone who has dementia.
  • Research changing the landscape of the disease, including risk reduction strategies.
  • Knowledge on how to leverage community resources.
