Implementation Workgroup for HB25-1271 Federal Benefits for Youth in Foster Care
This workgroup will provide guidance and recommend regulatory changes to screen children/youth who are served by the child welfare system, potentially making them eligible for federal survivor benefits. Additionally, if a child/youth is eligible or is receiving these benefits, this group will establish regulations to preserve these benefits and prevent the use of these funds for the cost of care. These regulations will need to be in place by July 1, 2027. This group will also make recommendations for changes in Trails to prevent these funds from being used for out-of-home care costs.
