Jan. 8, 2024: The Human Rights Campaign Foundation has once again awarded the Colorado Department of Human Services’ Division of Child Welfare its prestigious Innovator Seal of Recognition, which recognizes the division’s leadership on LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Dec. 12, 2023: For the second straight year, Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is receiving a record number of applications to start the heating season as the cost of energy and other essentials continue to rise and many Coloradans struggle to pay their bills.

Nov. 7, 2023: The Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health is opening a new 22-bed unit at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan to serve Coloradans in need of competency restoration treatment.

Nov. 1, 2023: The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) is recognizing four adoptive families from across the state in celebration of National Adoption Month in November. CDHS hopes these stories will encourage more Coloradans to consider adoption from foster care.

Oct. 30, 2023: The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health (OCFMH) has invested over $7.5 million since 2021 to treat and house individuals at the intersection of mental health and homelessness.

Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), a federally funded program that helps eligible Coloradans pay a portion of their winter home heating costs, opens for the season on Nov. 1 and will accept applications through April 30, 2024.

Sept. 19, 2023: September is National Kinship Care Month, and on Sept. 15, the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) hosted a kickoff event for the new Colorado Kinnected Kinship Navigator Program at the Adams County Government Center.

Aug. 28, 2023: Some Coloradans who are victims of electronic theft of their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Adult Financial or Colorado Works benefits through card skimming, card cloning or other similar methods may be eligible to have that money replaced
